A dog had been left behind by her owner and was shivering on her own beside a chain-link fence. What made the situation even more devastating was that the helpless pup was visually impaired and unable to see her surroundings.
Upon closer inspection, it became apparent that the canine lacked any visual organs.
After a woman spotted a dog she couldn’t take home herself, she turned to social media for help and posted an appeal on Facebook. Mauricio Perez came across the post and decided to find the dog himself. When he found her, he noticed that she was extremely skinny and her bones were showing. Without hesitation, Perez lifted the frightened dog into his arms and brought her back to his house. His girlfriend helped him bathe the dog, then they took her to the vet. The vet determined that the dog had not been born without eyes, but rather something happened to her that caused her to lose them, such as an injury or untreated infection. While it is uncertain what happened to the dog’s former owners, Perez believes they mistreated her. Though nothing could restore her sight, Perez was determined to help heal the dog’s soul.
Perez christened the furry creature as Concha, and he initiated the task of winning her over. According to Perez, the process was gradual. They allowed her enough time to realize that she was in safe hands, and they would embrace her every day until she slowly began to relinquish her apprehensions.
Gradually, Concha’s shyness evaporated and was replaced by a sense of ease and confidence. Love had illuminated Concha’s life, banishing the shadows that had once enveloped her.
At first, Perez equipped Concha with a device called a “halo” to keep her from running into objects while exploring her new surroundings. However, it wasn’t long before she became proficient at moving around the house without it.
According to Perez, Concha is well aware of the layout of the house, including all the doors and furniture. She also knows the exact location of her food and water bowls. Despite being visually impaired, Concha is a highly intelligent cat. What’s even more impressive is her ability to seek love and affection as she enjoys staying close to her owners.
Concha has been on her own for three years, but with the love and care provided by Perez, she has transformed into a completely different person. Her appearance and demeanor hardly resemble her previous self.
Perez stated that the individual in question is doing quite well. They are in good spirits and enjoying good health.
